Scholars' Martial Arts Presents:
We're the only IOGKF affiliated traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do school in Kitchener. We aim to provide our participants the very best in what traditional karate has to offer.
Traditional Karate & Kobudo Programs
Shugyō Karate Dōjō operates out of the gymnasium of Scholars' Hall Private School in Kitchener, Ontario, and is under the umbrella of Scholars' Martial Arts. We offer classes in Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate-do. We also offer weapons classes. We accept students of all ages, and have separate programs for each age range. We've been in operation since September, 2012.
Our karate program is authentic. We are members of the IOGKF (the International Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-do Federation). Our focus is to develop the body, mind, and spirit through our practice.
Our classes are dynamic; They have a focus on improving participant's range of motion, flexibility, strength, mindfulness, and self-defence. We engage and challenge our students to consistently become a better version of themselves, daily.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
My twins have been taking karate lessons for 8 months now and they absolutely love it! Sensei Sean is extremely patient and very encouraging to all his students. He challenges them to be the best version of themselves and the children all support and encourage each other which is so wonderful to see. This is an excellent program, suitable to all kids and I’d highly recommend it!
My daughter started taking karate classes almost a year ago at age 9. Her training has been a tremendous boost to her confidence as well as her physical conditioning. She has also been given the opportunity to attend seminars, competitions, and extra training classes without any pressure from Sensei Sean, but always with positive encouragement. As a parent I love that she is being active and able to be part of the team, but also able to work at her own level. Most of all I am grateful that Sensei incorporates the value of hard work, respect, discipline, and dedication into his training and lessons with his students.
Our 10-year-old son was hesitant to enroll in karate but since he has there is no looking back. He enjoys the discipline karate brings his life and loves the strength he gains while training. Sensei Gore has nurtured and cultivated a drive for respect for both himself but also others. Thank you, Sensei Sean, for the support and skills you bring our son!
